ABA Memorial Scholarship Fund
The scholarship program began in 2001 and was initially named after the late Roger R. Maynard. Roger
was the first president of the Arkansas Bowhunters Association formed in 1959. He was an active
lifelong member, a firm believer in education and committed to promoting the growth of the ABA.
Since 2002, we have held a scholarship archery shoot each Memorial Day to help raise money for the fund. Proceeds from the archery shoot fund college scholarships, awarded to ABA members or their immediate family members.
The ABA Memorial Scholarship program has been able to provide over $30,000 to over 50 recipients. This program is a 529 education savings plan. The 529 plan is named after Section 529 of the Internal Revenue Code which created these types of savings plans in 1996.
To apply for a 2020 scholarship, download the form and mail or email the completed form to the address below. The scholarship board will review the applications, selecting as many recipients as possible. Each year the number of recipients and scholarship amounts will differ depending on the funds raised. It is important to keep applying because the number of scholarships awarded varies from year to year.
If you would like to contribute to the scholarship fund, you can make a donation, sponsor and/or participate in the ABA Memorial Scholarship shoot on Memorial Day (May 25, 2020). The ABA Memorial Scholarship Fund is now a 501(c)3, all donations are tax deductible.
