ABA Memorial Scholarship Fund
The scholarship, which began in 2001, was initially named after the late Roger R. Maynard. Roger, who was the first president of the Arkansas Bowhunters Association, which was formed in 1959. He was an active lifelong member, a firm believer in education and committed to promoting the growth of the ABA.
Since 2002, we have held a scholarship archery shoot each Memorial Day to help raise money for the fund. All proceeds from the archery shoot are used to fund college scholarships, which will be given to ABA members or their immediate family members.
The ABA Memorial Scholarship program has been able to provide over $25,000 to over 40 recipients. This program is a 529 education savings plan. The 529 plan is named after Section 529 of the Internal Revenue Code which created these types of savings plans in 1996.
If you would like to apply for a 2017 scholarship download the form, fill it out, and mail it in. The scholarship committee will review the applicants and select as many applicants and provide as much money as they can. On some years we provide more scholarships than others. So keep sending in your applications.
If you would like to help sponsor this scholarship fund, you can make donations or just come and shoot in the ABA Memorial Scholarship shoot on Memorial day (May 29, 2017). The ABA Memorial Scholarship Fund is now a 501(c)3, so all donations are tax deductible.
